My nursing career began in 2003, driven by a desire to serve others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Over the years, I gained experience across a variety of healthcare settings, developing a strong clinical foundation and a deep appreciation for the complexity of patient care.

More than a decade of my career was dedicated to serving Veterans living with serious mental illness. During that time, I had the privilege of working with individuals facing complex psychiatric conditions, often navigating the intersection of mental health, medical illness, trauma, and life circumstances. These experiences shaped not only my clinical skills but also my understanding of the profound impact that compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care can have on a person’s life.

It was through this work that I discovered my true professional calling. Psychiatry challenged me intellectually, inspired me personally, and reinforced the importance of thoughtful assessment, diagnostic accuracy, and individualized treatment planning. Motivated by a desire to expand my ability to help patients, I pursued advanced education and became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Today, my approach is grounded in both clinical rigor and real-world experience. I believe that exceptional psychiatric care requires more than simply knowing diagnostic criteria or prescribing medications, it requires critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, curiosity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

These principles became the foundation for PMHNP Mastery Academy. My goal is to help current and future psychiatric providers develop the confidence, diagnostic reasoning, and practical skills needed to deliver high-quality mental health care in an increasingly complex clinical landscape.
